Keeping Talented People

Talented people are the lifeblood of any vibrant, growing company and a solid competitive advantage to those of us who work tirelessly to exceed our customer's expectations.

Here are a few thoughts about how to keep talented people from leaving your company.

1.
Understand the unique strengths of your people and build their job around those strengths. One way to do this is to analyze the behavioral requirements of the job and compare those requirements to an individual's natural behavioral style. To download a sample behavioral comparison profile, a very effective tool for this purpose, click here.
2.
Solicit formal feedback about job satisfaction and act on what you learn. To access a simple employee satisfaction survey and sample report, click here.
3.
Provide positive reinforcement and tangible rewards for outstanding performance. If you have a question about how to do this for individuals or teams, email your question to me at doug@thedougwilliamsgroup.com and I will pass along some tips about how to avoid common pitfalls.

Considering the fact that it costs at least $30,000 per person per year to replace an employee, it makes good business sense to develop and implement a retention strategy for your company. Satisfied employees lead to satisfied customers and customer satisfaction is the only thing that will ensure that your company is financially successful.
