October 2006 . N2
Dear Neighbors:

Our first issue of Cause An Effect was well received and we appreciate your feedback. The "Wish List" section is a hit and many of you have told us you found our Hurricane Season 2006 websites helpful. Good news for seniors in Miami-Dade and Broward Counties: Seniors in need of help with hurricane-related repairs can click here for more information on how they can apply for assistance. We hope you enjoy October's issue. Respond, and Cause An Effect!

Kind Regards,

This month's Good Neighbor is George David from Malibu Pools who recruited the pool industry to repair the pool of a 12-year-old handicapped girl so she can use it for aqua therapy. Click here to learn more about this story and see all the wonderful people who helped make this dream come true. The full story will be airing on CBS4 in the coming weeks. Stay tuned!

Background: Educate Tomorrow is a non-profit organization based in Miami-Dade County whose primary mission is to provide one-on-one educational mentors to foster care children that are turning 19 and "aging out" of the system.

Every year hundreds of these kids "age out" and are expected to blend into society as adults-even though many have not yet graduated from high school. Educate Tomorrow mentors provide guidance and information to assist them in successfully transitioning to independent adulthood.

Needs: Mentors and gift certificates for household items.

Neighbors 4 Neighbors is a non-profit organization 501(c) 3 originally created by CBS4 in 1992 in the aftermath of Hurricane Andrew. As South Florida recovered, CBS4 made a commitment to make Neighbors an integral part of its community service program. Using the power of television to reach people who want to help and by forging relationships with important community and business leaders, Neighbors has evolved into a valuable resource for individuals and families in our community facing critical needs.
