PRESIDENT'S ADDRESS |
March
2005 - N.1 |
|
|
Hello,
|
Welcome
to Constructive News! Our new
eNewsletter format!
In the interest of improving our
communications with you, we have
created an eNewsletter and a new
website to make it easier to inform
and bring you unique opportunities only
for LBA members. I'll be pleased to
receive any comments you may have about
it. Just email me at gusgil@aol.com. |
My message to you this month concerns actions.
It is a fact of business that we must protect
our interests or find our freedom to operate
unthreatened. So, we at LBA are in a constant
mode of vigilance to identify potential
problems and deal with them.
Here are some of the current situations
on our action board:
Florida Growth Management Act: This
act, now being drafted by the legislature,
will reshape the way new developments are
approved. It will dictate how much building
can be done in Florida and it threatens
to limit our ability to do business. We
are currently working to influence the way
it is drafted.
New Miami-Dade Building Code: This
will go before the Miami-Dade Commission
in July and we have been actively involved
in this process. When passed, we will be
communicating its terms to each architect,
developer and contractor.
Insurance Matters: Laws are being
drafted that will affect the rate that developers
and builders will pay for workmen's comp
and general liability insurance. We are
involved in this process and will continue
to put forth maximum effort for a positive
outcome.
I will welcome your thoughts and suggestions
on any of these matters.
I hope to see you this March 18 at the Hyatt
Coral Gables, where Frank Bolanos, Chair
of Dade County Public Schools will speaking
to us. To RSVP contact Odalys Saenz at 305-446-5969
or at Odalyssaenz@latingbuilders.org
I would like to end this message with this
cogent thought:
The more you get involved with this association
the more you will get out of it. When you
attend meetings you will learn things that
make you a better operator. By attending
meetings and fraternizing you can enjoy
the benefits of networking and increasing
your business.
Let's
not forget: This is what has made Hispanics
in Florida so successful.
